Why we exist?

At Real Beauty Roots, we exist to take back the definition of beauty on our own terms. In a world where the appearance is usually valued more than self-worth, we are committed to shifting the conversation toward body acceptance, mental wellness, and love toward one's self. Eating disorders and body image struggles affect millions, yet many feel isolated. We're here to change that.

We truly believe that beauty comes from within, and now is the time to celebrate our bodies as they are: unique, resilient, and worthy of love. Real Beauty Roots is a home where everyone can feel seen and understood and encouraged to love their real beauty, regardless of shape, size, and journey.

An estimated 9% of the U.S. population, or 28.8 million Americans, will have an eating disorder in their lifetime.

Divya Bhagavathula is the founder of Real Beauty Roots, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about eating disorders. Having personally experienced the struggle of living with undiagnosed anorexia, she understands the isolating and often unseen nature of eating disorders. Her own battle deeply informs their work today and through this organization, she seeks to break the silence surrounding eating disorders and mental health
